Strategic planning: Business sustainability / income diversification

The client:

Cambridgeshire Cricket Board

The brief:

To identify income diversification and generation opportunities to reduce reliance on England and Wales Cricket Board funding

The work:

Cambridgeshire Cricket Board appointed Bavester Associates in 2015 to support them through a review of business sustainability.  The work sought to identify new sources of potential income for the Board and how to better diversify income streams.  Working directly with their Cricket Development Manager, Katie reviewed each area of their existing operation with the aim of identifying cost savings or new income generation opportunities.  Katie undertook consultation interviews with Board members and delivered a stakeholder engagement session to explore and discuss ideas and options that had been identified through the work process.  A final report was prepared and presented to the Board proposing a new strategic approach and providing recommendations as to priority actions that should be completed to reduce the dependency of the Board on ECB funding.

The outcome:

The Board accepted all of the recommendations provided within the report and are now working towards the realisation of a number of key actions.  The work also resulted in a number of Board members volunteering to support the CDM directly with action delivery.
