The brief:
To support the preparation of a Community Sport Activation Fund application to Sport England
The work:
Bavester Associates was appointed to conduct targeted consultation with groups supporting older people within Newmarket and Brandon to inform the development of a Community Sport Activation Fund bid (CSAF) to Sport England. This subsequently led to a request to continue to manage the bid development process. Bavester Associates undertook the following work to complete the assignment by May 2015:
Liaison with local authority contacts to engage with groups supporting older people in Newmarket and Brandon
Development of questionnaire and completion of consultation sessions with group participants
Contribution to the local insight section of the bid prepared by the County Sports Partnership on behalf of Abbeycroft Leisure to demonstrate project need
Management of the bid development process working with a team of Abbeycroft Leisure staff and the local County Sports Partnership
Liaison with key local partners to gain project buy in and to identify match funding
Review and refinement of the Sports Development Plan prepared by Abbeycroft Leisure
Completion of the overall business plan to accompany the bid submission
Drafting of key application sections
The outcome:
Abbeycroft Leisure was successfully awarded £138,000 to take forward targeted sport and physical activity interventions aimed at those aged 60+ and young people aged 14-25 over a three year period commencing in September 2015.
